Paste a sitemap and any URL list from a crawl, GSC export or spreadsheet. Both sides get the same normalization, then a verdict matrix splits matched, missing and wrong host entries.

            Everything runs on your device.
            • The sitemap parser and URL normalizer run in this tab.
            • Matching uses the same preset on both sides, always.
            • CSV exports are built in memory and download straight to disk.
            • Nothing is stored, logged or emailed.

How to Check Sitemap URLs Against Any List

Sitemaps drift away from what is actually crawlable. This closes the loop in one pass:

            1. Load the sitemap - Paste urlset XML or upload the file. Index files are rejected with a pointer to the Sitemap Index Validator, which expands children without any network fetch.
            2. Load the URL list - One URL per line from a crawler export, a Search Console download, or a spreadsheet column. A header line of url is ignored.
            3. Pick the normalization preset - SEO, Canonical or Aggressive. Both sides always pass through the same profile, so www, slash and protocol differences cannot fake a gap.
            4. Read the matrix and export - Matched, in sitemap only, in list only and wrong host, each with its own CSV when you need a ticket or a fix list.

Normalization Presets Decide What Counts as a Match

Most false mismatches in list comparisons are formatting, not coverage:

            • SEO preset - Trims, drops fragments, and removes tracking parameters such as utm, fbclid, gclid and msclkid while keeping protocol, www and slashes exactly as written.
            • Canonical preset - Everything in SEO plus forced https, www removal, trailing slash removal and sorted query parameters. This is the default because it matches how canonical tags usually treat URLs.
            • Aggressive preset - Everything in Canonical plus the whole query string dropped and index.html or index.php endings stripped. Right for sites where parameters never change content.
            • Wrong host - After normalization, any list URL whose host never appears in the sitemap lands in its own bucket, which is where staging hosts and copy paste noise show up.
            • Three exports - Missing from list, extra in list, and the full matrix with declared and list flags per normalized URL for spreadsheet pivots.

Compare Sitemaps and Crawls Without Uploads

Crawl exports and sitemaps contain the full URL surface of a site, which is exactly what you do not want on a third-party converter. Parsing, normalization and the verdict matrix stay in the browser. Expand index files with the Sitemap Index Validator, confirm crawl rules with the Robots TXT Checker, then run a full site grade with the Free SEO Audit Tool or book our SEO audit services.

            Frequently Asked Questions

How does the sitemap URL checker compare two sides?

Paste sitemap XML on the left and a URL list on the right, press Compare, and every URL runs through the same normalization preset before matching. You get four verdicts: matched, in sitemap only, in list only, and wrong host.

What do the three normalization presets change?

SEO strips tracking parameters like utm and gclid. Canonical adds forced https, www removal, trailing slash removal and sorted query order. Aggressive drops the entire query string and index.html endings as well. Pick the strictest profile that still reflects how your URLs are written.

What does the wrong host verdict mean?

A list URL whose host is not present in the sitemap after normalization. Those entries are usually from another environment, a staging host, or a copy paste accident, so they sit in their own bucket instead of hiding inside the generic list only count.

What is in each of the three CSV exports?

One CSV lists sitemap URLs missing from your list, one lists list URLs missing from the sitemap plus wrong host entries, and the third is the full verdict matrix with normalized URL, declared flag, list flag and verdict per row.

Can I paste a URL list from a crawl or Search Console export?

Yes. One URL per line. Empty lines are skipped and a first line of url is treated as a header. Both sides accept pasted text or an uploaded file, and everything is parsed locally.

My sitemap is a sitemap index file. What now?

Expand the index with the Sitemap Index Validator first, audit its children there, then bring the child URLs here for a list comparison. This checker expects a urlset document with url entries.

            Is my data uploaded?

No. XML parsing, normalization, matching and the CSV downloads run in this tab. Neither the sitemap, the URL list nor the verdicts leave your device.
